Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is reportedly a surprise transfer target for Swiss side FC Basel, who are looking for a new number one and according to talkSPORT think the Polish stopper can fit the bill.
Fabianski is out of contract at the Emirates this summer and ready to move on in search of regular first-team football, after failing to dislodge countrymen Wojciech Szczesny in the Premier League.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger still trusts Fabianski to feature in cup competitions but that has not persuaded the 28-year-old to consider staying at the Emirates beyond this season.
Basel are ready to take advantage and are actively searching for a new goalkeeper, after agreeing to let their star stopper Yann Sommer join Borussia Monchengladbach to replace Marc Andre ter Stegen, who in turn is about to sign for Barcelona.
talkSPORT understand that Fabianski tops their shortlist of transfer targets and will be offered the chance to hold the number one spot for the Champions League regulars next season, if his heart his still truly set on leaving Arsenal.
Wenger has all but admitted defeat in his bid to extend Fabianski's stay in North London into an eighth season, with the Polish international free to talk terms over a move in the final few months of his Arsenal contract.
