Free Agency is set to begin as of 4 p.m CT today, but one player is demanding clarity on his position before then.
DeMarcus Ware wants the Dallas Cowboys to make a decision on his future before the signing period begins, according to league sources.
In recent weeks there has been a prolonged debate between the two sides, with the Texas franchise keen to emphasise that Ware will not remain with the team unless he takes a pay cut.
But with the player seemingly not keen to move from his current $12.25 million deal it looks like things have come to a head.
The Cowboys are already under the salary cap and therefore may choose to keep hold of Ware beyond the initial stages of free agency so as to restrict the number of teams likely to via for his signature leaving them in a stronger position to retain his services.
This however, would obviously undermine Ware's bargaining position and it seems he is aware of the fact - insisting the Cowboys let him know where he stands as early as possible.
Ware struggled with injury last season but the defensive end remains a big name and would likely be highly touted should he become available early on.
With just a few hours to go before free agency officially begins we shall have to wait and see how this one pans out.
