Robin van Persie 'not happy' at Manchester United

Robin van Persie is understandably unhappy with the way things are going at Manchester United this season, according to former Arsenal star Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The ex-Holland international believes that United’s poor form this season, directly contrasted with their Premier League success last term, mean that Van Persie is struggling to enjoy himself at Old Trafford. He told talkSPORT that he was hesitant to endorse rumours that the 30-year-old striker would be departing at the end of this season, but that he could imagine it was not all smiles in Manchester.

“I don’t know if he wants to move on but it’s obvious he’s not playing the way he can,” Van Bronckhorst said.

“If you compare him with last year when he was playing fantastic football, as well as the Manchester United team, but this year they’re struggling and if the teams struggling then the players are struggling, as well as Van Persie.”

Van Bronckhorst then went on to add that the added pressure of a looming World Cup, off the back of a disappointing campaign with the Red Devils, could be taking it’s toll on Van Persie.

“I can imagine that he’s not feeling really happy,” the former Arsenal full-back said.

Speculation concerning Van Persie’s future has been a topic of mass discussion of late, with some certain reports even claiming that he could be primed for a return to the Emirates this summer.

The likes of Monaco, Juventus and Barcelona have all also been credited with interest, but as of yet the player himself has offered no notion as to where his future may lie if not at United.
