Top 14: Multi-talented sportsmen (1)

Published 1 Comments

Speculation concerning a future footballing career for Usain Bolt has continued this week, with the legendary Olympic sprinter seemingly refusing to play down speculation that he is open to being called into Jamaica's squad for their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Bolt, a six-time Olympic gold medalist widely regarded to be the most naturally-gifted athlete on the planet, has previously made no secret of his love and desire to represent Manchester United and fuelled rumours about representing the 'Reggae Boyz' by re-posting a picture of the newspaper that made the initial claim on his Instagram account.

While this may seem like a farfetched idea, the affable Bolt is notoriously impulsive and unpredictable - so we certainly wouldn't bet against it.

Bolt's potential switch to football got us thinking about other multi-talented athletes - sportsmen who have either performed professionally in two different sports or have left one behind to pursue a career in another.

Here, we list 14 examples that instantly spring to mind of some hugely gifted, multi-talented sportsmen and women.

While we have included one or two historical examples, here we are mostly focusing on the modern, professional sporting world.

Which of these stars do you think are or indeed were the most talented? Are there any surprise inclusions or omissions? Let us know!
