The agent of reported Chelsea and Liverpool target Caner Erkin has confirmed interest from the Premier League in the Fenerbahce defender.
According to Turkish station Lig Tv, the 25-year-old is being lined up by the Blues as a value-for-money replacement for Ashley Cole this summer, with the full-back set to be out of contract at the end of the season.
Erkin is free to speak with potential suitors as he runs down the final few months of his deal, and Jose Mourinho appears keen to bring him to Stamford Bridge as he looks to strengthen his options at left-back.
Chelsea will face competition from Liverpool though, with Brendan Rodgers also on the lookout for reinforcements at Anfield, as Jose Enrique continues to be plagued by injuries during the 2013/14 campaign.
Glen Johnson has been forced to play at left-back for a large portion of the current campaign, and it's understood that the area is high on the list of priorities to strengthen when the transfer window reopens.
The Turkey international has impressed at Fenerbahce this season with 13 assists and two goals from defence, and also boasts a wealth of experience having made 27 caps for his country.
In an interview with Turkish-football.com, Erkin's representative Batur Altıparmak confirmed that his client has received admiring glances from England, but reiterated that he remains committed to Fenerbahce and will hold renewed talks with them before the summer.
"A few Premier League clubs have been scouting Caner and a few are interested," he said. "[But] Caner is still contracted to Fenerbahce so the right thing to do would be to first enter talks with the club and then decide what to do."
