Magic Johnson has taken to twitter today to claim that the LA Lakers need Phil Jackson. The legendary Lakers player also said that the Knicks' pursuit of Jackson proves they are ready to win a championship.

"I love Jim & Jeanie Buss, but we need Phil Jackson to be the face of our great organization, the Los Angeles Lakers." tweeted Johnson  who recently bought a part of LA's WNBA team.

He followed the tweet up by showing his envy over the Knicks move for Jackson:

"In signing Phil Jackson Owner Jim Dolan & Steve Mills are saying to the Knicks fans, they're ready to win now!"

Jackson is expected to take a position in the New York Knicks front office later this week but Magic and a number of analysts have voiced the opinion that the Lakers should move for the championship winning coach.

Magic played for the Lakers for 13 years and won five NBA champions with one of the greatest franchises in the NBA.

Jackson has won 11 NBA titles, including five with the Lakers but has never officially assumed a front office role.

It appears to be too late for the Lakers to make any move toward Jackson and will have to hang their hopes on a returning Kobe Bryant for an immediate turn around in fortunes next season.
