7: Alexander Buttner to Manchester United
All things considered, Alexander Buttner was never going to make himself Manchester United's first-choice full-back, regardless of the uncertain future of Patrice Evra.
At 25 the Dutchman isn't young enough to be considered 'one for the future' and his current level of ability doesn't do enough to warrant himself a first-team berth at a top English club. With David Moyes said to be prioritising the signing of a left-back in the summer, it would seem the only way is out for Buttner.
Sir Alex Ferguson isn't remembered as being a poor judge of talent, but just what was he thinking with this one?
