WWE stalwart and fan favourite John Cena tops the list of top merchandise-selling superstars, it is claimed.

As if anymore confirmation of Cena's worldwide popularity was needed, according to reports from The Wrestling Observer cited Wrestlinginc.com, he leads his competitors in merchandise sold at live events and also through the company's online store.

36-year-old Cena joined the WWE in 2001, initially forging a reputation for himself in Ohio Valley Wrestling. Clearly impressed by what they saw, he made his first appearance for the company against Kurt Angle a year later.

Since then Cena has gone from strength-to-strength, retaining huge support among the WWE universe, holding numerous titles and taking his place among some of the company's biggest storylines.
