The best QB in the draft?
The best QB in the draft?.

AJ McCarron may be the forgotten man of the 2014 NFL draft. After leading Alabama to two National Championships, McCarron has hardly been talked about as prospect. However the senior believes he is better than any other quarterback in the draft.

Speaking at his pro day yesterday, McCarron said: "Why not? The rest of those guys feel like they're the best," he said. "It's a mindset you have to carry in yourself. I feel like my play speaks for itself over the three years I started in the SEC. I definitely do."

Some analysts have questioned McCarron's arm strength and others believe he does not have the playmaking abilities that other quarterbacks have exhibited. However McCarron does not agree, he said:

"I've been hearing everything about arm strength and deep outs and comebacks," he said. "I feel like I should silence all that. I threw it deep early in the workout and I threw it deep late. I felt like it was a real good day."

Phil Savage, director of the Senior Bowl believes that McCarron will be projected as a second or third round pick with some analysts even believing that he may slip as far as the fourth round.

Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel and UCF's Blake Bortles have been largely talked about as the best quarterbacks in the draft with Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater also expected to go high in the first round.

McCarron's college coach, Nick Saban also believes in his former signal-caller saying today that: “I think anybody that doesn’t take A.J. in one of those earlier rounds is going to make a huge mistake, because I think he’s going to be a very, very good player,”

The NFL draft will take place on May 8th in New York but will McCarron's name be among the first called? Let us know your opinion in the comments below.
