Tottenham Hotspur are leading the chase for Manchester City midfielder James Milner after he was not offered the chance to renew his contract at his current club.

The north London club will be looking for a dominant English midfielder after they offloaded Scott Parker and Tom Huddlestone, who has since become a fans' favourite at Hull.

Spurs will be looking for a commanding player to take the reins of the team, with their recent improved form under Tim Sherwood has seen them clamber up the table.

Milner would definitely be looking to stay in the Premier League, but given his recent competition playing time, he may be looking for a club who can provide just as much a chance of playing Champions League football as his current club.

As a result, Arsenal or Liverpool could look to go in for the England international in the coming months as Arsenal have had - as usual - a number of injury issues in their midfield this season, but performing Jack Wilshere will need the backup that Milner could provide, once he most likely gets another few knocks in the Gunners' nect campaign.
