Michael Jordan is considered by the vast majority of people to be the greatest basketball player of all time. That’s why it’s interesting when a person of note chooses someone else as their No.1, and more interesting still when they have two No.1s.
If that is the case then Kevin Durant is an interesting person. The Oklahoma City Thunder star, speaking to sources in the U.S, told how he believed Jordan had one pierre… Kobe Bryant. That’s right, you heard it, Bryant. Not Magic Johnson, not Larry Bird, Kobe Bryant.
The Los Angeles Lakers star may be flagging this year, having sustained back-to-back injuries to his Achilles tendon and knee, but Durant believes he should be regarded as possibly the greatest player to have ever taken to the court.
“He’s the greatest of all time. His skill is second to none. Him and MJ are neck and neck as far as skill,” Durant said.
“Kobe is the top two best ever in just having skill, footwork, shooting the 3, shooting the pull-up, posting up, dunking on guys and ball handling. Kobe and Jordan are 1 and 1A.”
As for Durant himself, there’s no telling how far he might go. Midway through a season which has seen him hotly tipped to take the MVP crown from LeBron James’ head, could it be that the forward’s statement is merely a future greatest of all time selecting his predecessor?
