Sherman will be hoping not to face off against Smith this season.

Richard Sherman applauds Ravens over Steve Smith signing

Richard Sherman has spent a lot of time spouting negative comments about NFL players this week on twitter. He defended himself against claims that Darrelle Revis and Aquib Talib were the best cornerbacks in the league, however now he appears to be praising receiver Steve Smith.

Smith just secured a three-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens, and Sherman appears to be impressed with the business for the former Super Bowl champs. "That's a big time pick up for the Ravens!" Sherman tweeted earlier.

The former Stanford man followed that tweet up moments later saying: "This has to be the most movement of veteran players in any free agency period in a long time..... Lots of impact players changing teams"

Sherman is not wrong; DeMarcus Ware, Aquib Talib, Darrelle Revis and Eric Decker have all been sent to different teams during the busy free agency period after proving themselves capable players before.

However all those Baltimore Ravens fans looking for a potential Smith-Sherman matchup will probably be disappointed. The Ravens are not scheduled to play the Seahawks during the 2014 regular season so any matchup would have to wait for the Super Bowl.

Only time will tell if that fantasy can become a reality.
