Wayne Rooney has been The Red Devils’ best player by far this season and along with being a creative number 10 he has been a goal scoring number 10 also.
When United are playing badly the only person in the team who seems to be actually trying is Wayne Rooney.
Some of his best performances came when his future was still in question, for example the Chelsea game at Old Trafford at the beginning of the season.
During this game Man United just weren’t in the game but Rooney was the only one making the challenges and trying to make chances for goals, these are the times United really rely on their main man.
Rooney recently signed a huge contract extension and the contract now sees him as the highest paid player in the league.
With his future basically sealed at the club United can now move forward knowing that their best player as committed himself to the future under David Moyes and that he is willing to help the club as much as he can.
Rooney has reignited his partnership with the Dutchman Robin Van Persie who has had a lacklustre season compared to his last season in which he won United the League, but now with both players firing in the goals and the occasional assist, Man United could very well finish close to the top five but I believe it all depends on the performance of Rooney.
