Manchester United and Liverpool, the two most successful football clubs in England face each other this Sunday.
In previous seasons, Manchester United used to be the team at the top of the table while their biggest rivals would be camped at mid-table. However, this time Liverpool are in a much better place than United. They are almost assured of playing in the Champions League next season while United might not make it to even the Europa League.
Most football fans blame David Moyes for United's inconsistent form this season. It was always going to be difficult for United's new manager to replace Sir Alex Ferguson due to his success at Old Trafford.
But at the start of the season, no United fan thought that their team would not even challenge for the title. I, being one didn't. But as the season passed, the realisation of this being a difficult transition season for my team grew.
United have little hopes of playing Champions League next season and these also, will die if they lose to Liverpool. Playing in the Europa League seems to be a realistic target and for that also, United must win against their biggest rivals.
If United are to win against Liverpool, they must exploit Liverpool's defense, probably their only weakness this season. Moyes must play all four of Van Persie, Rooney, Mata and Januzag from the start.
Kagawa must also be used at a latter stage. Also, Rooney and Van Persie must combine with each other much more than they have this season.
They must improve their partnership to the level which Liverpool's deadly duo- Suarez and Sturridge currently have. Suarez, Sturridge and Liverpool's other attacking players are going to trouble United's defense so I think the only way for the Red Devils to beat Liverpool is to outscore them.
Liverpool, as of now, are better as a team. They are the favorites to win this match. They know this and Brendan Rodgers will definitely want to increase the gap between both the teams.
They know that their win ends United's top four hopes, giving them extra motivation. They have been the most exciting team to watch this season and I think they will show this again against United.
I, being a Manchester United fan hope we will play well against Liverpool. This has been a difficult season. Beating Liverpool might just be the game which changes this and makes us achieve the miracle of playing in the Champions League next season.
