In a week that saw Wayne Rooney confirmed as one of the most popular Premier League stars on Facebook, the Manchester United star has launched his personal Instagram account and opened another avenue to interact with fans.
Rooney launched the account on Saturday, a day ahead of the clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford that will be crucial to Manchester United's hopes of finishing inside the top four come the end of the season.
"First instagram photo, looking forward to sharing more with everyone!" said the 28-year-old on the post.
Rooney celebrated reaching 17million fans on his official Facebook page earlier this week and the many fans he has there will likely be pleased they can get even more photograph and video content from the England star. Rooney has experience on Instagram as he has previously taken over the official Manchester United account, posting snaps from the Red Devils' training sessions.
It has been a happy few weeks for the former Everton man as he confirmed he would be committing his long-term future to the Old Trafford club. Rooney put pen to paper on a five-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2019.
Rooney will now be looking to carry this off-field positivity onto the pitch as Manchester United gear up for a crucial end of season run-in. A win over Liverpool on Sunday will go a long way to boosting their chances of reclaiming Champions League football next season.
