The Premier League is undoubtedly one of the top leagues in the world and is certainly the most lucrative in terms of television money, but the quality of play has been slipping over the last few seasons. There are eight possible solutions to halt this slide.

Barcelona and Real Madrid were the leading two sides throughout Europe for a few years in the last decade, before the recent emergence of Bayern Munich has raised the bar even further. Borussia Dortmund also looked as though they were going to make themselves one of the biggest sides, but injury and having their best players poached has seen them fall away.

It was barely ten years ago that the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea were dominating things in Europe, playing some of the best and most effective football going. It has been a long time since English sides set the standard and they have increasingly seen the best players go elsewhere, added to the fact leading Premier League stars, such as Gareth Bale above, have left.

The only way to take the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United back to the pinnacle of the game is to sign the best players going. Better players means better football and a better standard of youth players coming through the ranks.

GMS have picked out eight stars from around Europe that have been linked with summer transfers to the Premier League and would go some way to making it the most attractive league in the world. This are supposed to be realistic targets, so don't get your undergarments in a twist with there being no Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi.
