Olivier Giroud's wife demands transfer away from Arsenal

Arsenal may be about to lose one of their top scorers from the last two seasons after his wife demanded he find a transfer back away from London and England.

According to The Sun, Olivier Giroud's other half, Jennifer, has demanded he secure a move away from the Emirates Stadium club and return back to France after a series of scandals. The Gunners centre-forward issued an apology on Twitter after photos emerged of a hotel encounter with a model in a Sunday paper reportedly taken the night before a game.

The Sun claims the 27-year-old has accepted the Arsenal striker's apology but has demanded they move back to France as soon as possible. This has been mooted as a possible reason behind Giroud recently being pictured meeting with influential agent Muzzy Ozcan, though his agent denied it was anything to do with a transfer.

“She’s [Jennifer] agreed to take him back but only on the condition they leave London and England," a source close to the couple is quoted as saying in The Sun report.

“He’s desperate to save the marriage because he knows how stupid he’s been — so he is going along with what she wants.”

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will not be pleased that Giroud has been given further distractions, as the Gunners have an extremely tough run of fixtures in March that could define the success of their season. Wenger dropped his first choice centre-forward for the FA Cup win over Liverpool last month after the original scandal emerged.

Arsenal are battling for the Premier League title and have an FA Cup semi-final clash with Wigan Athletic - a competition the Gunners are hefty favourites to win and end a nine-year trophy drought.
