Manchester United boosted as Vidal rejects Barcelona move

Manchester United and Real Madrid have been boosted in the pursuit of highly-rated Juventus playmaker Arturo Vidal, as the player has all but ruled out a transfer to Barcelona.

According to French newspaper Le 10 Sport, Barca star Alexis Sanchez vocally revealed his admiration for Vidal as a player, in an attempt to persuade him to make the move to Catalonia. However, far from being sweetened by his compatriot’s proposal, Le 10 claims Vidal laughed off the notion.

Vidal is reported as having replied: “Sanchez wants to play with me? We do this for a long time in the national team."

Such words don’t suggest that the Chilean international is ready and willing to make a big money move to the Nou Camp, which in turn raises the question over whether or not he sees his future anywhere other than Juventus. Both United and Madrid have registered a strong interest in securing his services, and this weekend rumours emerged suggesting €50million would be enough to convince his team to sell.

An experienced and proven midfielder at the highest level, Vidal would certainly make a difference in the current United team. However it remains to be seen whether or not he would have any interest in joining their cause if David Moyes is unable to steer a path towards participation in the Champions League next season.
