Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was arrested late Sunday night in Carmel.
The 54 year old was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of controlled substances.
Irsay's bond was set at $22,500 and he remained in jail as of Monday morning.
According to Lt. Joe Bickel of the Carmel Police Department in a recently released police statement:
"Irsay drove at a slow rate of speed, stopped in the roadway and failed to signal a turn before police stopped him.
After being pulled over the Colts long time owner then subsequently failed a number of roadside field sobriety tests.
Irsay famously announced himself as a non-drinker back in October 2013 but was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when booked at 3 A.M.
The Police are reported to have several bottles of Schedule IV prescription drugs in his car. Poilice have also stated that the pills did not match the prescription bottles found in the vehicle.
Irsay, who has been owner of the NFL franchise since 1997, attended rehab in 2002 in relation to a long-standing addiction to prescription painkillers.
Any disciplinary action Irsay faces from the league will be decided by the NFL commissioner according to league policy.
