The build up to WrestleMania XXX has been overshadowed in recent weeks. April 6 should represent one of the biggest pay-per-views in wrestling history, however the speculation regarding the future of CM Punk seems to be taking over the WWE Universe.

The self proclaimed 'Best in the World' hasn't been seen in a ring since lasting over an hour in January's Royal Rumble.

And since the Rumble, wrestling fans have been desperate to see their hero return to the industry.

On the Monday Night Raw a few weeks ago - which was held in Chicago - fans didn't stop chanting the name of 'CM Punk'... and the Punk talk hasn't slowed down since.

With 'The Grandest Stage of them All' just around the corner, the WWE would be making a major error if they didn't bring Punk back.

Of course no one seems sure as to why Punk left the wrestling scene in the first place, but the event at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 6 won't be the same without him.

Surely Vince McMahon and Co. can strike a deal with the controversial wrestler in the coming weeks. The WWE needs CM Punk and he needs them...

If Punk was to return then it remains to be seen the type of role that he would be handed at WrestleMania XXX.

Could he even be put in the main event? Stranger things have happened.

Of course it would be difficulty for the WWE to justify putting Punk in the match for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania, but they have to think of something.

Before last week's Raw, the match for the WWE title at WrestleMania wasn't getting many fans out of their seats.

But with the strong possibility that Daniel Bryan will be involved in the title match and the hope that CM Punk could be handed a shock way into the main event, the title match would suddenly have a worldwide appeal.

At the end of the day, Punk remains a crucial figure for the WWE and they could use his absence to their advantage at next month's pay-per-view.

Between now and then, don't be surprised if the speculation only continues to intensify with many hoping a dramatic WrestleMania return is on the cards.
