Manchester United have been all but ruined under the management of David Moyes. The defence of the Premier League crown has been an absolute joke and not only that, the champions don't look like they're going to be in the Europe's elite tournament next year.
Sir Alex Ferguson retired as the most successful football manager ever with countless trophies won with United. Moyes, this season at least, has been a laughing stock. The latest record was the 0-3 defeat to Liverpool yesterday; the biggest in 50 years. In my mind the time is up, he must go!
United are 7th in the Premier League. They finished 1st last season by a clear margin and the squad has only improved since then with the signings of Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata. Moyes has the dullest personality you can ask for in a manger. His tactics are awful and incredibly predicable and he is too stubborn; never trying anything different. Players the fans want to see play and flourish are being left on the bench and don't get the chance to have a good run of games! Examples of which are Shinji Kagawa, Javier Hernandez, Nani and Wilfried Zaha (the latter is now out on loan.)
For me, the man who should be in line to take over United is in Germany; Jurgen Klopp. The reasons for this are listed below:
• He has fantastic charisma and character. The Borussia Dortmund coach would just breathe life into Old Trafford again and completely change the dynamics. Beyond those kinds of intangibles, too, there is the way he is trying to push boundaries in the game: Klopp practises truly modern football. There is just something so exciting about the German.
• Kagawa would flourish. When Kagawa was purchased from Dortmund he was expected to become one of the world's best play makers. The last season he had under Klopp was extremely successful, and he made it into the Bundesliga team of the season. Kagawa is fading away under Moyes and the talent he possesses is being destroyed.
• Not afraid to try something new. Jurgen Klopp plays really modern football. His BVB side took on heavyweights like Real Madrid and Manchester City in the Champions League and took them apart. Over the years Klopp has changed his tactics to suit the players at his disposal.
• He has the same philosophy as Manchester United. Klopp believes in nurishing young talent. He made Mario Gotze one of the most valuable young prospects in world football, as well as nurturing the talents of Marco Reus and Kagawa.
