Arsene Wenger is leading the race for Bundesliga sensation Matthias Ginter, according to the Daily Mirror.
The centre-back, who is also a transfer target for David Moyes’ Manchester United has been highlighted as one of Germany’s next big sensations.
It is thought that Wenger has been tracking the 6ft 3in defender for months now, but it was only last weekend that Wenger sent chief scout Steve Rowley to watch the once-capped German international.
Ginter made his full Germany debut against Chile and is being tipped as a potential player that could provide defensive cover at the World Cup for the likes of Mats Hummels.
And with the World Cup now only three months away, this gives Ginter only a matter of time to prove himself to both Arsene Wenger and the German international coaches.
But Wenger is not the only admirer of the 20-year-old. Manchester United boss David Moyes has identified the young star as a potential replacement for Inter Milan-bound captain Nemanja Vidic.
Vidic, the senior captain, will leave United at the end of the season but Arsenal is thought to be Ginter’s preferred destination.
And with Thomas Vermaelen growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of playing time at the Emirates, a place in the Arsenal first-team could not be too far away for the German international.
