European XI: Superstar team of the weekend (12)

Published Add your comment

ST: Lionel Messi

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi became the club's all-time record goalscorer in a breathtaking style we've almost come to expect last weekend, reaching 371 strikes at the age of just 26 against Osasuna.

Messi scored his 25th hat-trick for Barca and also contributed an assist in a 7-0 demolition at the Camp Nou, all ahead of this weekend's impending El Classico which will have massive ramifications on the title race in Spain.

The records continue to tumble for the Argentine star, who looked back at full tilt for the first time since returning from injury upon reaching a mark of 30 goals for the sixth season running, and all by March. Wow!
