Manchester United & Liverpool targets produce stunning display

Benfica pair Ezequiel Garay and Rodrigo had Premier League admirers watching with close interest against last night and picked a perfect time to shine, proving key figures in a 4-2 win at Nacional.

Garay has been a transfer target of Manchester United for some time, a stance that has not changed since David Moyes took the reigns at Old Trafford.

The Argentine international is normally concerned with providing a strong rearguard but scored twice last night, including a brilliant looping header which effectively made sure of Benfica's 18th win in just 23 league games this season.

Striker Rodrigo meanwhile has been linked with a £25m switch to Liverpool this summer following a fantastic campaign in Lisbon, which continued with a superb performance last night.

The 23-year-old slammed home his 12th goal of the season with a stunning drive from range, while also turning provider for strike partner Lima in another efficient display.

On this evidence United and Liverpool should move fast to secure top targets before rivals from the continent come calling, particularly with Zenit St Petersburg watching both men and possessing the finances to bankroll a move for the pair if they see fit.
