Wayne Rooney nutmegs David Moyes in training

Manchester United star Wayne Rooney gave his teammates and the watching media a laugh by nutmegging his manager, David Moyes, during Tuesday’s training session.

The under-fire Scot probably should have thought twice before deciding to take part in the filmed training session ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League fixture against Olympiakos. He hasn’t enjoyed much good fortune in his debut season at Old Trafford - and his luck didn’t change when he stepped out at the Aon Training Complex.

Moyes was the ‘piggy’ in the middle - a common training exercise used by most football clubs - when Rooney played a cheeky pass straight through his manager’s legs. The United boss let out a cry of anguish before running back to the England international, who had a beaming smile on his face.

This video suggests that all is fine in the Manchester United dressing room at present, despite reports to the contrary in recent days. There was reports that Moyes was involved in a furious bust-up with one of his senior players following Sunday’s 3-0 home defeat to fierce rivals Liverpool. But, unless things have been patched up in record time, it appears that spirits are high ahead of one of the Red Devils’ most important matches of the season.

United must overturn a 2-0 deficit against Greek champions Olympiakos in order to advance to the Champions League quarter-finals.

Reports in this morning’s newspapers suggest that Moyes has three matches - including Wednesday night’s clash against Olympiakos - in order to save his job. Following the conclusion of their mid-week European fixture, Moyes’ men prepare to face West Ham on Saturday evening, before Tuesday night’s Manchester derby against City.
