New York Knicks have already started selling retro Phil Jackson T-Shirts - hours after he was unveiled as the team’s new president.
A photograph showing the ‘Jackson 18’ shirts, snapped by Chris Herring of The Wall Street Journal, made its way on to Twitter shortly after the Zen master gave his first press conference.
Knicks fans are likely to snap up the T-Shirts given the fact that Jackson, who won two NBA championships with the New York outfit and a further eleven as head coach of the LA Lakers and the Chicago Bulls, has returned to sort out the team’s current problems.
The 68-year-old, speaking to reporters earlier today, confidently stated that Carmelo Anthony does have a big role to play with the Knicks - and is already looking towards 2015. Jackson also confirmed that he would be holding discussions with current head coach Mike Woodson.
James Dolan, the Knicks’ owner, expressed his delight with the news that Jackson had returned.
"Today that clear vision and winning culture have come back to New York,” he said. "Phil has a vision for the Knicks that I know will put us on a path to success.
"Phil will be in charge of all basketball decisions.”
