Pellegrini is under pressure to deliver.

Premier League big boys: Better or worse than last season? (5)

Manchester City

At this stage last season Manchester City had: 56 points

This season they have: 60 points

It's a slight improvement from City this season compared to last, which is something of a surprise.

The final few months under Roberto Mancini were painted as something of a disaster before he was eventually sacked but at this stage his team were in second - although admittedly they were well adrift of Manchester United.

Interestingly so would Pellegrini's City side be. They have 60 points this term, which would leave them eight points adrift of Manchester United if they were transplanted into last season's title race having played the same amount of games.
