Premier League big boys: Better or worse than last season? (7)

Published Add your comment

Tottenham

At this stage last season Tottenham had: 54 points

This season they have: 53 points

It's interesting to see that, for all the doubt and change that had hindered Tottenham this season, they are only one point worse off than they were this time last year.

Spurs were in 4th place after 30 games last season and were four points clear of rivals Arsenal - everything was going well.

However since then Andre Villas-Boas has departed and Tim Sherwood has taken over - they're now seven points adrift of fourth which shows just how much the league has progressed in that time.

Spurs have struggled under Sherwood but they have managed to accumulate points at roughly the same rate; when AVB left in mid-December Spurs had one point more than they did in his first season at the same stage.

The Portuguese boss managed a record points haul in his first season with Spurs, but having departed despite being a point better off, we'll never know if he would have been able to guide them into the top four.
