The Atlanta Hawks have been rebranded as the Atlanta Death Hawks by a member of Deadspin's staff as part of a social media takeover today.
NBA teams have really embraced the power of social media over the past couple of years and have experienced an increase in young fans as a result.
The Atlanta Hawks have a huge social media presence with over 200,000 followers on twitter. However today they turned all that over to Drew Magary of Deadspin.com with some entertaining results.
Magary started off by announcing that he will sing both the U.S and Canadian national anthems when the Hawks play the Toronto Raptors later tonight.
He then gave his predictions for the Final Four of the NCAA tournament: "Our Final Four picks: Hawks, Hawks*, Hawks, Hawks"
After successfully rebranding the Hawks as the Death Hawks, Magary set upon another Atlanta sports team: "I'm just saying: A hawk is a bird. A falcon's a bird. A Thrasher's a bird. So why aren't the Braves a bird? THE ATLANTA OSTRICHES."
I'm not sure the Ostriches would go down all that well in the NL East this year but Magary's comments sure made for an entertaining afternoon for Death Hawks fans.
You can follow all the action @ATLhawks on twitter tonight.
