Manchester City are close to sealing a surprise swoop for Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes according to French newspaper L'Equipe.
Valdes has already confirmed that he will leave Barcelona in the summer when his contract expires.
Previous reports have suggested that he had already agreed a move to Monaco, however it seems as though Manchester City have beaten them to the punch.
L'Equipe report that Manchester City are in talks to sign the Barcelona goalkeeper, who is keen on a move to the Etihad Stadium, and representatives from both clubs met for informal talks last week.
If they want the move to go ahead, Manchester City will have to pay Monaco a small fee to release him from the agreement he has with the Ligue 1 outfit.
If the reports prove to be true it will likely cause concern for Manchester City number one Joe Hart.
The England international was dropped earlier on this season after a string run of mistakes - although he has since regained his starting spot.
Barcelona appear to have already lined up German youngster Marc Andre ter-Stegen as Vales' replacement, although the deal hasn't been formally announced as yet.
