Arsenal transfer target Josip Drmic, a striker playing for FC Nurnberg, will reportedly not only be pursued by the north London club during the summer transfer window, but also Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen.
Arsenal are expected to recruit another goalscorer before the start of next season, and Drmic emerged last week as a potential acquisition for Arsene Wenger in his pursuit of reinforcements. According to Blick, Arsenal will be contested in their pursuit of the player by Leverkusen, who are also keen to bolster their attack.
Drmic, who has scored 12 goals in 23 Bundesliga appearances this season, would be available at relative low cost for either Arsenal or Leverkusen, were they to formalise their supposed interested, with the 21-year-old Swiss reported to have a buyout clause in his contract of €4.2 million.
The Gunners have been linked with some of the most prominent strikers in Europe in recent transfer windows, as Wenger launched failed attempts to sign Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez in the summer of last year, it it may be the Arsenal boss will look to recruit Drimic and a marquee name.
Arsenal's striking department is relatively threadbare, with Olivier Giroud the only recognised senior centre-forward at the disposal of his manager, unless Nicklas Bendtner returns from the wilderness once more.
