Reaching the climax of what has been a dismal season from Manchester United’s point of view, positive signs are looming around Old Trafford, with big names being heavily linked with the club in preparation for a summer of transition. This summer the changes wont be in manager hot seat, but more on field changes, with hints of a big summer clear out in the red half of Manchester.
With a host of Europes big names being linked, such as Koke, Luke Shaw, Miralem Pjanic, Mehdi Benatia, but there is one player who is sure to make the difference. Bayern Munich's central midfield star Toni Kroos has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford over the last few months.
Having bossed Arsenal in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, Bayern have acted quickly to say they are trying to negotiate a new deal with the German International. However more speculation has mounted during the preview of the second leg against Arsenal. Kroo’s stated he would sign for a club even if they don't offer Champions League football, which after Uniteds torrid season, they wont be able to offer.
What will he offer Manchester United?
The dynamic playmaker can offer a host of options for David Moyes’ side. Slotting the 24-year-old German in the central midfield can give players like Juan Mata and Shinji Kagawa and Marouane Fellaini a chance to get forward so they can express themselves.
Toni Kroos plays in an area of midfield United have been lacking in for many years now, ever since losing Paul Scholes and Roy Keane. He is more agile, a better passer and an all round better quality player than the likes of Michael Carrick and Tom Cleverly, he is also able to drift in to help out offensive movements. He can contribute to the goals as we all know he can score from distance too.
After United’s embarrassing 3-0 defeat to bitter rivals Liverpool on the weekend, it is obvious a clear out is needed at Old Trafford, and after being so heavily dominated in the middle of the park last Sunday against Liverpool, Kroos looks like he could work wonders at Manchester United.
