Bayern Munich midfielder and Manchester United target Toni Kroos has received backing from legendary compatriot Michael Ballack over his current contract saga.
Kroos is reportedly unhappy with his his salary in comparison to some of the other players at Bayern and ex-Germany captain Ballack evidently thinks that it is only fair he should look elsewhere to get a sense of his real value.
"I think he has been checking out his market value and he will know where he is in the salary structure," the former Chelsea midfielder told Bild in an interview that was quoted by talkSPORT.
"It's important to know you're valued and it is perfectly legitimate that he looks around."
Manchester United - who are in the midst of a very difficult season that has already seen David Moyes' position as manager called into serious question after only a matter of months in the Old Trafford dugout - have been heavily linked with a move for £25 million-rated Kroos for a number of weeks.
Despite the doubts currently surrounding Kroos' future at the Allianz Arena, however, it is certainly questionable whether Manchester United would be able to convince the talented playmaker that a prosperous future could lie ahead at Old Trafford given their recent descent into painful mediocrity.
And although Bayern Munich currently enjoy lofty status as unquestionably the best team in Europe with manager/tiki-taka pioneer Pep Guardiola possessing a squad brimming with depth , Kroos abilities - proved to English audiences with his virtuoso Champions League display against Arsenal in the Champions League - will presumably ensure that they are keen to reach an agreement to end the current standoff.
