Chelsea may be set to lose out on the potential signing of Mario Balotelli, as the player’s agent is now in talks with Monaco, according to reports in Italy.
Italian website SportMediaSet claims that the former Manchester City star’s chief representative, Mino Raiola, has been in contact with the mega-rich French side over a potential switch in the summer transfer window. Balotelli’s future has long been a subject of debate, and the idea of him leaving has only been reinforced by AC Milan’s poor showing in the Serie A this term.
French newspaper Le 10 Sport, drawing from the report in SportMediaSet, highlights the fact that Milan are in dire straits financially, and so may be forced to sell on their best assets to balance the books. However the news that Raiola is openly discussing terms with Monaco will be disheartening news to Chelsea fans, as the Blues have been named in connection with the forward on a number of occasions over recent months.
It has been largely speculated that the relationship between the Italy international and Jose Mourinho would have seen the west London giants in the driving seat in this particular battle, and with Chelsea tipped to bring in a big-name forward this summer, the Italian is a firm candidate.
