The five most memorable March Madness moments (6)

1) N.C. State shock the nation

OK we said Laettner's buzzer-beater was the ultimate, but what about Lorenzo Charles?

North Carolina State had made it to the championship game as a no.6 seed but were huge underdogs, coming up against the Houston Cougars and their "Phi Slama Jamma" team.

Going toe to toe with the Cougars, the Wolfpack won it in the last second when Charles caught Derrick Whitenberg's 30 foot air-ball to slam down the dunk - bringing about the greatest March Madness moment in the process.

Coach Jim Valvano frantically ran onto the court searching for someone to hug remains one of the defining images of the tournament everyone loves to watch.
