From the grassroots up it’s usually the players who score the goals who get the majority of attention on a football pitch.

As you step enter the professional levels the gratification from the fans is more admittedly more widespread, but there are some players who just aren’t given the praise they deserve. Last night’s victory for Manchester United over Olympiacos in the Champions League was the perfect example.

David de Gea made two incredible consecutive saves, only to be blanked by the majority of his team-mates. Former United star Darron Gibson even took to Twitter to publicly announce his dismay, such was the incredulous nature of the snubs.

Here we pay homage to the most undervalued players at big clubs. All of these guys are either not given the recognition they deserve or simply aren’t treated with the right level of respect.
