4: Mathieu Flamini - Arsenal
One of the unsung heroes of Arsenal's scintillating campaign thus far, and a complete surprise package in terms of how influential he's been this season, Mathieu Flamini has to go down as a masterful piece of business conducted by Arsene Wenger.
The French defensive-midfielder looked as though his career as a top player was coming to an end at AC Milan, but Wenger gambled on him and bought him back to north London - much to the dismay of the fans.
However the 30-year-old has been a lynchpin in the centre of the park for Arsenal this campaign, and has marshalled the midfield to great effect. Unfortunately Flamini's ability to keep the team ticking over doesn't draw nearly as many accolades as the goal-scoring/assisting feats of his team-mates. Regardless, he's one of their most important players.
