CM Punk’s exit from the WWE was never going to be one which could be swept under the carpet with little or no fuss.
However even the powers-that-be with the organisation couldn’t have predicted just how difficult it would be to move on without the former World Heavyweight champion. And now they’ve run into yet another problem. One that concerns a slightly unusual topic; the Flinstones movie.
The WWE Studios production, originally set to star Punk, has been forced to undergo a script re-write ahead of it’s scheduled 2015 release. Reports in WrestlingInc claim that another wrestler will be taking over Punk’s original role, with Rey Mysterio being tipped to get the nod.
Punk’s well publicised sabbatical from professional wrestling doesn’t look like ending anytime soon and, despite initial suggestions that the WWE would look to get him back onboard, it now seems as though they’re doing everything they can to distance themselves from him.
Punk himself stated that he was a “totally new person” on his appearance on The Talking Dead t.v show, but you just can’t shake the feeling that it may all be some sort of ensnaring ruse priming the 35-year-old for a blockbuster return.
