4. Santa Clara 64, Arizona 61 Steve Nash makes a name for himself

Football News

Arizona entered the 1993 tournament as a 2-seed, and was a national powerhouse, having won the Pac-10 conference championship that season, and four of the previous five.

Santa Clara was the unknown, supposed patsy, with just a 18-11 record out of the West Coast Conference.

The Broncos held Arizona to just 31 percent shooting, and got a clutch performance from then backup guard Steve Nash, who sank four big free throws to seal the win over the Wildcats.

Arizona remained a national power through the 1990's, even winning the tournament in 1997.

That Nash for Santa Clara turned out to be pretty good also, once he got to the pros, winning two NBA MVP awards.
