Manchester United and Liverpool's chances of signing Serie A starlet Keita Balde have taken a hit this afternoon, with Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca di Marzio reporting that the youngster has agreed a new Lazio contract.
Balde has emerged as a transfer target for a whole host of top sides across the continent in recent weeks after busting onto the scene in Serie A this season, proving a consistent performer at Lazio with five senior goals so far this term.
The 19-year-old Barcelona academy graduate remains a firm part of Lazio's plans though and is relishing the chance to play consistent first-team football, so much so that Spanish-born wonderkid is ready to pen a new long-term deal this week.
Lazio have agreed to pay their brightest young talent a base salary of €400,000-a-week to fend off any lingering threat from United or Liverpool over a summer switch, although the length of his current deal running until 2017 will not change.
The Aquile will also put a bonus incentive scheme in place to ensure that Bale is rewarded for loyalty and performance over the length of the contract, based on an marked improvement over the course of a difficult campaign for the Rome giants.
