San Antonio Spurs star, Tony Parker has revealed that he plans to finish his career playing in the French basketball league after finishing his NBA career.
In an interview with French 24, he said: “I am going to play in the NBA for 5-6 more years and I will play my last season with ASVEL. My dream is to play the season with ASVEL in the new arena”
Parker, who plays for the French national team already owns a majority share in ASVEL. The Lyon-based team have been petitioning for a new arena and Parker himself has threatened to leave the team should they be denied the chance to relocate.
In the NBA players are not allowed to play for teams that they have ownership stakes in, however that rule does not exist in France which would enable Parker to represent his team for a year if he chose to.
Parker's current contract expires at the end of next season, so it remains to be seen if the star can see out his NBA career with the Spurs or if he will play elsewhere before making the move to France.
