Providence's Bryce Cotton has hit a career high almost single handedly taking out UNC in March Madness, but a foul from him in the last seconds cost them the game.

Number 11 Providence had a close encounter with UNC, with their fouls and rebounds allowing the number 6 team in a lot more than they should have.

But the headlines tonight will be with Providence as Bryce Cotton, who is arguably the number two player in the Big East conference this year hit a career high 36 points.

Cotton didn't stop there, also contributing eight assists and hitting all seven of his free throws.

The game went to and through down to the wire with UNC hitting a free throw after being up by eight points with under five minutes remaining. Lots of rebound for Providence weren't followed up and UNC broke the scoring pattern.

Cotton conceded a foul after a rebounded free throw with only 1.7 seconds on the clock. But another rebound gave them a lead and a only 0.7 seconds on the clock.

UNC's last ten minutes won them this game which was Providence's to lose, but luck was on their side in this close escape.

They'll face the winner of number 3 Iowa State and Carolina Central.
