Steve Smith has written a letter to all Carolina Panthers fans.
The former Panthers WR was cut by the franchise after thirteen years devastating long time followers and supporters of Smith.
He's since signed with the Baltimore Ravens after a career with Carolina of over 12,000 yards and 67 touchdowns.
In the local paper, the Charlotte Observer, Smith has taken out a full-page ad with a letter that will address all of his fans and supporters.
The open letter thanks them and promises to return and live in the city when he retires from the game. He also mentioned that he will: "always consider myself a Carolina Panther"
The advert will go out in Saturday's paper and is sure to make some people feel a bit better about his departure, as he has tried to soften the blow already.
Last week a video went viral of a young man who was incredibly upset at the news of his favourite player, Steve Smith, leaving Carolina.
Smith, ever the gentleman, tracked down the child and surprised him with new Baltimore Ravens gear after appearing on abc's Good Morning America.
Happy endings after all maybe?
