Once you've reached your thirties, a professional footballer is supposed to enter a gradual decline before gently slipping into retirement.

But some footballers out there have simply refused to go quietly and continue to perform at the highest level despite their advancing years.

Ryan Giggs put in a terrific performance for Manchester United against Olympiakos last week despite being the wrong side of 40.

But he is not the only one still doing the business in the upper echelons of football.
