Manchester United transfer target William Carvalho has emerged as a summer priority for Ligue 1 side Monaco.
According to Le 10 Sport, Monaco scouts have been keeping tabs on the 21-year-old Portugal international with a view to a bid at the end of the season.
Recent reports had claimed United had agreed a deal to sign Carvalho for £37m from Sporting Lisbon, with the player due to seal the move prior to the World Cup.
But the French newspaper suggests Monaco still harbour hopes of bringing Carvalho to the Stade Louis II to partner Joao Moutinho and Geoffrey Kondogbia in the midfield.
A Monaco official was in the stands to watch Carvalho against Porto earlier this month, a match also attended by a United delegation.
Sporting won the game 1-0 against their Portuguese rivals, and Carvalho impressed with another composed performance at the heart of the Sporting midfield.
Despite only making his national team debut last year, he's playing his way into Paulo Bento's starting lineup ahead of the World Cup in Brazil this summer.
One thing is for sure though, a stellar tournament for Carvalho could hardly push his asking price up much further - a client of Jorge Mendes, Carvalho reportedly has a release clause of £37m, and Sporting want the full figure.
