Premier League XI v El Clasico XI - Who wins? (3)

Published 54 Comments

RB: Branislav Ivanovic v Dani Alves

Brazilian right-back Alves has become synonymous with Barcelona over recent years. The passionate 30-year-old - who also boasts 72 international caps for Brazil - joined Blaugrana from La Liga rivals Sevilla back in 2006.

He makes it ahead of the likes of Daniel Carvajal, who is only just making a name for himself with Real. In terms of a Premier League right-back, we really didn't have to think particularly hard before coming up with a decision.

While Serbian international Ivanovic is equally-adept at occupying a role in the heart of defence, he is chiefly deployed on the right by Jose Mourinho to superb effect.

Who wins?

Again, this is perhaps not going to please everyone - but we're going to have to go for Ivanovic and extend the Premier League's advantage.

Although Alves has been a consistent and ever-present figure for Barcelona, his powers have been slightly on the wane of late while Ivanovic enjoys a growing reputation as one of Europe's most formidable and solid defenders.
