NFL legend, Chad Johnson has claimed that he has secured a place on David Beckham's new Miami-based MLS franchise today.

Johnson tweeted earlier:"Just talked with David Beckham for 20 minutes at baggage claim and he ensured I'll have a spot on the MLS team here in Miami."

The former Cincinnati Bengals receiver played for 10 years in the NFL with over 11,000 receiving yards. He also tried out for Sporting Kansas City of the MLS during the 2011 NFL lockout.

However, the opportunity to play for the first team in the MLS did not arrive on that occasion but it appears that the 36-year old is looking for another shot.

Beckham, who played for the LA Galaxy between 2007 and 2012 announced earlier this year that he would be launching a new MLS franchise in the city of Miami.

Neither the team name, nor any prospective players have been officially announced. However there have inevitably been a lot of rumors since the project was announced.

Spanish international, Xavi as well as Beckham's former England teammates, Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes have all been linked to the project.

Will Johnson get a chance alongside those names? Let us know in the comments
