Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish doesn't look like he's going to get the first pitch on opening day.
The situation around his mysterious injury is becoming a cause for worry in the Rangers camp who are looking to bring in Joe Saunders to replace him in the rotation.
Even that is going to be tricky. Darvish is out with a neck injury and he is being evaluated daily by the Rangers coaches and medical staff.
But Saunders, a veteran who has over 192 innings to his name, spent Sunday pitching with a dead arm in the Spring Training game against the Padres and gave up nine runs.
Saunders is a stalwart though who will chew up the innings whilst Darvish is recovering. However there is concern that Darvish may not even get 35 games this year with his current injury level.
Another update is expected on Tuesday with further assessments on him and confirmation from the Rangers as to what they are doing in the bullpun.
