Inter Milan president Erick Thohir has revealed that a trio of top strikers are on a summer shopping shortlist that seems to grow by the day, telling Gazzetta dello Sport that he would love to sign either Fernando Torres, Edin Dzeko or Alvaro Morata if given the opportunity.
Thohir has grand ambitions for Inter and the cash to back it up, targeting a return to the Champions League and a prominent position in Serie A next season.
Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has already agreed a move to the San Siro and Thohir is actively chasing deals to strengthen other areas of the side, with a leading centre-forward high on the Nerazzurri's list of priorities.
Torres, Dzeko and Morata have all suffered from the same problem this season at Chelsea, Man City and Real Madrid respectively, left consistently sidelined by stiff competition for a starting spot.
With transfer talk showing no sign of dissipating Thohir has attempted to provide some semblance of clarity on Inter's transfer policy, refusing to rule out a summer swoop for any of the three strikers in question.
He told Gazzetta: “Rumours then of Dzeko, Torres or Morata? I do consider these names.
"Maybe one of the three will come for real, but we must apply with the above parameters.”
Chelsea in particular could be willing to part with Torres at the right price this summer, after a season which has largely flattered to deceive.
Torres has scored just four times in 22 Premier League appearances this season and will be in the final two years of his current Chelsea deal, giving Blues boss Jose Mourinho a decision to make during the close season.
Dzeko and Morata could also be lured to the San Siro with the promise of consistent first-team football on a bumper contract, leaving the ball very much in Thohir's court in terms of picking Inter's next star striker this summer.
