World Cup 2014: Potential All-Star XI (11)

Attacking midfield: Wayne Rooney | England (Manchester United)

Wayne Rooney will head to Brazil settled both on and off the pitch - and there’s a real chance that he will produce his best form for England on the biggest stage of all.

The England forward is always capable of scoring a goal or providing an assist when he’s on the pitch, while he be keen to replicate the experience of scoring at the Maracana, just as he did last summer when England drew 2-2 with World Cup hosts Brazil.

At 28, Rooney now feels like a leader in this England team, and it would be fantastic if he manages to show the world that he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Could he even inspire England to an unlikely World Cup triumph?
